Differences Between Long-Term Care and Healthcare Facilities
Michael Brusca is passionate about getting justice for people who have been injured — or even killed — in nursing homes, assisted living homes, hospitals, or group homes. He is currently a partner at Davis & Brusca Trial Lawyers and is one of only a few attorneys in New Jersey who has dedicated their practice to nursing home abuse law. As a Cherry Hill, NJ nursing home lawyer, Michael has a place in his heart for this topic because he has personally been affected by it. He watched a family member struggle and eventually pass away because of abuse faced in an assisted living facility. Because of this, he wants to make sure it doesn’t happen to others and that these institutions are held accountable for their employees’ actions.
Michael currently serves on the Executive Board of the national Nursing Home Litigation Group for the American Association for Justice and has been published in respected magazines, such as the New Jersey Law Journal and “Trial,” the attorney magazine published and disseminated nationally by the American Association for Justice. Michael travels across the United States lecturing other nursing home attorneys so that he can share what he has done to successfully hold assisted living homes accountable for their actions. He wants to spread his knowledge on prosecuting these claims as much as he can so that other lawyers can help their clients win cases.
He also has an extensive past working to better assisted living homes by holding them accountable. For example, he was lead counsel for the plaintiff in the case Dwyer v. Harborview, which generated the largest nursing home verdict to date in the state of New Jersey. He served in the United States Air Force as a Judge Advocate, where he tried several cases all around the world, including Japan, Kuwait, and Qatar. He wants to continue to add things to his resume to help people who have been impacted by traumatic nursing home abuse gain compensation.
